Finally!

Im so glad that finally he came out. My estranged guy friend who used to be so close to me when we were in college finally broke the shell.

On our early year in college, he was literally one of the girls. Until on our third year he hastily changed! He became firm. He was not eyeing for good looking boys anymore. He even courted a girl and to my astonishment they became official. We didnt questioned him for his abrupt decision instead we became reassuring.

Time went by, we tried to ignore the questions we wanted to ask him and go on with our lives. We graduated and find our respective jobs but still have the time to see each other often. When we were together we talked about his consecutive affiliation with some girls. We yakked about his failed relationships. We counselled about him being a martyr.

Then it came to a state that he seldom come with us on our gimiks and out-of-towns. We rarely see him. He has always a reason not to come with us. Until gaps were built.

Among our "tropa", Im the one whom he deserted the most. Our distance from each other went an extra mile. He talked to me on the odd occasion. When he wanted to ask something from me he always needed a representative. My ill feelings for him dug deeper. I cant take it anymore, I messaged him about what I feel and told him how upset I am. He ignored me and I've had enough. If he doesnt want to be friends with us then fine thats it!

A situation came that made me think and realized that he was carrying a baggage, a heavy one, all by himself. I tried to talk to him again but this time Im impatient to know what were his hang ups. He told me that I shouldnt be upset and there were really circumstances that he cant go with us. He said that he doesnt want to be hostile towards me, towards us. I told him that I understand and somewhat Im eased. But still I know that there was something more.

Morning of the other day Ive read a text message from him. He said he was hurting, wanted to move on and he needed our help. I enforced him that we should meet. Afternoon of that same day, we've met, together with the two of our friends.

After connecting the dots, the situation that Im talking about is him having a relationship with the same sex. We found out through his inconsistent excuses and some photos. The text message that he sent me was about his partner wanted to break up with him because he's too possessive.

At first, he was uncertain to tell us but we are definite, he was caught off guard and he cannot escape his "CIA" friends. He confessed everything, he was crying and expressing regret that he never told us. He said that he's afraid that we might not accept him or worst judge him. He tried to change because he doesnt want to be discriminated. He said that he even tried to repulse us. He didnt thought that we are his FRIENDS.

To end it all he confessed that he wanted the old person back. The one we've met in college. We are just so glad that he finally came out to us. No more pretending and by the time that you were reading this he and his partner had fixed things up and were back together.

Im glad to know that after all, we still have each other. We still have the friendship that once been tested and now made us even stronger.

"Im so happy for you friend. You know that we will accept you no matter who you are or who you wanted to be as long as it will make you happy we will be happy as well. We love you and we'll always be here."

  8. It must have been real hard for him to stay away from you guys because he was worried about what you would think of him. I'm happy that things have been patched up with your group. He's lucky to have friends like you.

  9. Acceptance ~ that is important for you to consider. And what you've done is right. However for him, he might be 'happy' in that relationship for some time but I guess it would be best to consider a lifetime commitment.

  11. It's not easy trying to be somebody you are not kaya naintindihan ko yung situation ng kaibigan mo. I bet he was more frustrated at himself than your group. Kudos to you for understanding him.

  16. True friends are rare, and that guy is more than lucky, and more than blessed to have you. In a time when morals and religious predispositions condition people to make them think that living a lie is acceptable, and living in honesty and truth is abominable, people like you must succeed in setting a good example of true friendship and genuine humanity.
